ABOUT TEAM MASTERS SPELLING BEE
The team masters National spelling bee competition is one of the biggest spelling competitions in Nigeria as well as one of the very few spelling bees done online. The spelling competition takes place yearly and every edition of the competition sees participant across different parts of Nigeria compete for a grand prize of N500,000. As mentioned earlier, the competition is done on line on the Zoom Video conferencing platform (App or Website). The competition is held in three stages (District, State and national).
IS THE COMPETITION OPEN FOR ALL CLASSES?
Yes! The team masters’ spelling bee is open to all classes from Grade 1 – SS 3. There are five categories:
- Grade 1 (Primary 1)
- Lower basic (Grade 2 – 3)
- Higher basic (Grade 4 – 6)
- Junior Secondary (JSS 1 – 3)
- Senior secondary (SS 1 – 3)
IS THERE A WORD LIST?
Yes, there is a word list for each category of the competition and the word lists are extensively used but in some cases, the pronouncer goes outside the word list especially in cases where they seem not to find qualifiers / winners from different stages as a result of the mastering of the word list by contestants.
WHAT ARE THE PRIZES GIVEN TO WINNERS
There are prizes for each category of the competition and the prizes are all the same for each category. The prizes are:
1st place: N500,000, medal and plague
2nd place: N300,000, medal and plague
3rd place: N200,000, metal and plaque
HOW TO PREPARE FOR TEAM MASTERS
As an individual preparing to participate in the Team Masters Spelling bee, it is important to have the word list handy. What this simply means is that, the word list should either be printed out or available on a device you have access to. Preparing for team masters spelling bee requires a lot of devotion. Here are things to note as you prepare to participate in the team masters national Spelling Bee
- The competition accepts both the British and American spelling of words but participants are advised to focus more on the spelling of words given on the word lists.
- The competition uses extensively the word list given but spellers are advised to source for other words outside the word list to increase their chances of winning.
- The competition is mainly online and so having the zoom App and a stable network is a necessity.
- the competition follows the Rules of spelling bee and at the same time, spellers can only look at the screen when spelling a word. Looking sideways or elsewhere when spelling might lead to instant elimination from the competition.
- You are expected to put on your video and unmute your device when spelling.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR TEAM MASTERS NATIONAL SPELLING BEE
Registering for Team Masters national spelling bee is a very easy thing to do. Firstly, get contact details of the spelling bee on the flyers of their official Facebook page, Call or WhatsApp the number and demand to be added to their official WhatsApp group. After you have been added to their WhatsApp group, you would get information about the competition sent from time to time.
When registering for the competition, you are required to make payment to an account number that would be provided to you by the organizers. After payment, forward screenshot of the payment details to the same number that you contacted on WhatsApp. Send them your payment details as well as name and class of the participant(s) being registered.
