ABOUT INTERNATIONAL SPELLING BEE NIGERIA
The international spelling bee Nigeria is one of the biggest spelling bees in Nigeria that spreads across different parts of Nigeria. The competition is also one of the fewest that grants participants the chance to feature at an intercontinental spelling bee taking place in Dubai every year. The competition begins at the state level before advancing to the National level and then the international (intercontinental) level.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR INTERNATIONAL SPELLING BEE NIGERIA
Interested participants can check the official Instagram page for contact details or visit their website. Interested participants are only required to make payment of a fixed sum of money to a designated account and forward their payment details to one of the competition’s officials online who in turn confirms payment. Interested participants are also required to sent their details or the details of the participants they are registering to the officials. The details includes class, age, name of school, etc.
IS THE COMPETITION OPEN TO ALL CLASSES?
The international spelling bee competition is an age grade competition and is open to spellers from the a 8-14.
IS THERE A WORD LIST?
Yes, for the international spelling bee Nigeria, there is a word list but the just like the Nigeria spelling bee, the word list is not to be over dependent on as most times words are called outside the word list. The official dictionary of the competition is the “Learn Africa Dictionary” where most of their words are called out from and so, spellers are encourage to purchase the Learn Africa Dictionary and practice with it.
WHAT ARE THE PRIZES GIVEN TO WINNERS
At the State level of the competition, there are no monetary prizes given to the winners but then gift items from sponsors are offered to the top 3 spellers at the state level who advances to the national level to compete at Abuja. Also, note that aside what the winners gets, every other participant is provided with a branded Indomie shirt before the competition begins. The winners also get a document containing details of the National finals in Abuja.
Note: The trip to Abuja is not an all-expense paid trips, participants are to transport themselves there along with a parent, teacher or spelling coach.
The top 3 winners at the national finals in Abuja progresses to Dubai to compete at the International spelling bee and aside this, they also get a trophy and a medal.
HOW TO PREPARE FOR THE INTERNATIONAL SPELLING BEE NIGERIA
While preparing for the international spelling bee Nigeria, it is important to note that despite there is a word list for the competition. Spellers are advised to avoid being over-dependent on it and source for more words elsewhere to broaden their knowledge preferably, spellers are to purchase and practice with the Learn African Dictionary.
