How to register for Spelling Bee Competitions

Registering for a spelling bee involves a process and this process varies depending on the spelling bee you are registering for. Just like we mentioned in our previous Article, some spelling bees allows for physical registration (at the venue), while others use the online method of registration.

Here are some Important things to take note of before registering for a competition
i) Date of the competition: it is very important you know the date of the competition so you can make proper plans and preparation. The earlier you know the date of the competition, the more time you have for preparation.

ii) Class level/Age group: It is important you know if your age or class fits into the competition You are about to register. In most cases, the age group or class level of participants are specified on the flyers of the competition. If you can’t find this on the flyer, look for contact number to call and make proper findings. This will enable you make proper preparation for the competition

iii) Payment / mode of payment: It is important for you to find out if the competition is free or would require some amount of money to be paid for registration. Having made your findings, it is also important for you to ask the organizers of the mode of payment or you can check the flyer for payment details as well as the deadline for payment. Some competitions allow for physical payment at the venue on the day of the competition (late payment) while others are strict on online transactions. In some cases, late payment might attract a penalty fee. It is important you keep evidence of payment for reference purpose. You can screenshot on your phone or print out (just in case it is needed for confirmation).

iv) Registration Process: It is important you make findings on the process of registration. Some competitions allows for online registration through the use of Google forms or direct contact with organizers on social media platforms such as WhatsApp. Irrespective of the methods adopted for online registration, be sure to fill in or give your correct details. Before submitting or sending your details, proofread to be sure that you have given the right information. In the case of Google forms, after clicking on submit, check your mail box for a copy of your responses. Note that registrations done on Google forms would always demand for some important information which are mandatory that you fill. Such information are identified with an Asterisk at their front.

Some competitions might also allow for physical registration Just before the commencement of the spelling bee. It is also important that you present the organizers with correct details of yourself (as a participant) or that of your students (as a coach).
